Experimental Lab for International Security Studies

Experimental Lab for International Security Studies (ELISS) is an interdisciplinary research group at the Peace Research Center Prague (PRCP), Charles University.

Our research is situated at the intersection of political science and cognitive and social psychology, with a focus on using experimental methods to study pertinent issues in foreign policy and international security. Over the past four years, we have mainly focused on investigating public and elite attitudes toward the use of military force, weapons of mass destruction (nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons), and AI-powered autonomous weapon systems, as a part of a broader project funded by Charles University's PRIMUS program. Since 2025, our group has been working on a project, "Microfoundations of Collective Defence" (MICROCODE), funded by the European Research Council (ERC).
